How To Hook-Up Your TV or Monitor/Receiver

thumbsupThe Proper Hook-up:
Probably the most needed help is how to hook-up a new Monitor/Receiver, (TV) properly. Over 65% of people hook it  up wrong  particularly if it is  a 27″ or larger set. Most people still hook-up from their VCR to the Monitor using the cable line that came with their VCR, instead of using RCA or Audio/Video Lines, (nothing to do with RCA Victor). Here is how to hook it up properly:

1) Bring your cable line out of the wall into a “T” splitter.
2) Out of one side of the “T” splitter into the Monitor/Receiver (TV).
3) Out of the other side of the “T” splitter into the VCR. (See Note 1).
4) Using RCA lines, bring one line for Video, out of the VCR into the Video 1 input of  the Monitor/Receiver.
5) Bring two RCA lines, (On stereo VCR’s), out of the VCR, into the Audio 1 of the Monitor/Receiver. (See Note 2).
Note 1: If you need  a cable box to receive HBO, Cinamax, Showtime, etc., run a cable line from the other side of the “T” splitter into the cable box and  out of the cable box into the VCR, as shown in the drawing.

Note 2: If you have a mono VCR, you need to hook-up a “Y” RCA splitter from the Audio out of the VCR, then hook-up two RCA lines as in stereo hook-up.

This will allow you to watch one program while recording another. If you have a  PIP  (Picture-in-Picture) set, you use the tuner of the VCR to change the inset picture. I hope this makes the installation easier. Enjoy!
