Front projection is fine IF you are in a very, very dark room. 85% of all front projectors that are returned are because the area is not dark enough, (personally, I don’t like to live like a mushroom). Before you buy one do the homework on contrast ratio & luminance, the higher the numbers the better. Check also how much the bulbs costs and how long they last, (a lot shorter than rear projectors).

Front projectors are fine for the occasional movie or if you want to go bigger than 82″. Before you buy make up a price list of the extra’s you need! 1) ceiling mount 2) long wires 3) what are you going to use for a tuner 4) screen 5) very dark room.
