DOC’S PICK FOR TV’S BY SIZES!

DOC’S PICKS FOR TV SIZES

19” to 26” LCD as of Jan 2009. All are 720P or 1080I. Doc’s pick in order Sony, Panasonic, Samsung. Try to stay away from Visio, LG, Westinghouse, Polaroid, Toshiba.

32” to 37” LCD. If this is a main TV try to buy 1080P. I have not found one that has 120 hz yet, maybe buy the end of 2009. Doc’s pick in order again, again same as 19” to 26”.

40” to 52” LCD. LCD’s are the slowest of all TV’s in handling fast moving scenes such as movies, sports, or gaming. The fix to that would be 120 hz or more. My pick’s what I call would be a super fix would be Mitsubishi 40”, 46” or 52”. ALL Mitsubishi’s have 1080P, lighted remote that works audio equipment, 120 hz, 6 color processing, stretch plus, an icon based system with plug & play. They also have the thinnest frame. Example, a 40” is only 36 1/2” w. Second pick is Sony, Samsung. Stay away from Visio. Cheaper is NOT good in a TV.

42” to 63” Plasma TV. The worse you can buy is a Plasma for several reasons:
1) They use about 3 times the electricity as a DLP.
2) A 65” weights about 310 lb.
3) The glare from the glass will distract from the picture even in low light.
4) Drastic temperature changes will kill them.
5) Most are altitude sensitive.
6) VERY dangerous around kids if you don’t hang them on the wall. Very easy to knock over.
7) The two top manufactures Mitsubishi and Sony don’t even make them anymore, (that should tell you something).
8) I get 200 to 400 e-mails a WEEK with ruined Plasma’s. I did not get that in a 5 YEAR  period  of time with any other TV type!
9) Glass is VERY, VERY thin!

I’ve noticed lately that over 90% of the time people hang a Plasma or LCD on the wall as a main TV, (not for bedroom, bathroom, kitchen), right below is a 20” or more stand. They are not saving space! So go DLP! You can go bigger, better, faster, lighter, and less money! A TV should not be a fashion statement! Example:

65” LCD, about 245 lbs, average cost with 120 hz, $5,000.00.
65” Plasma, about 310 lbs, average cost $3,000.00.
65” DLP, about 73 lbs, average cost $1, 400.00.

You do the math! That’s why I own a DLP!
